hey, i know a guy.
For small businesses around Pittsburgh

When it comes to AI for your small business in Pittsburgh, you need to know a guy.

Right now, someone in Sewickley with a problem you can solve is asking ChatGPT, Google or Perplexity for help. Do you know what they are saying about your business?

The problem

A potential customer in Moon Township just asked AI for exactly what your small business does. But AI isn't sure what to tell them.

You know where your customers come from. A friend gave them your name. They drove past the sign. They typed you into Google and picked you off the map.

More of them now ask AI instead. They type a plain question into ChatGPT, the same way they would ask a neighbor, and it answers with a name or two. They call one of those names. If yours is not in the answer, that customer never knew you were there, and nothing on your end tells you it happened.

Think of your business like a car. Something under the hood is sending your customers to the shop down the road, and you don't even know it. Usually it is small. Wrong hours on a listing. A page on your own site that search engines were told to skip. An old address a directory copied years ago. Your next best customer, gone because of a clerical error.

How it works

Three steps. The first one takes two minutes.

Step one
You hand me the keys.

At checkout I ask for your website, your business name, and your town. That is everything I need.

Step two
I put it on the lift.

I write about twenty-five questions the way your customers would type them, taken from the services you actually sell, and ask ChatGPT and Perplexity every one. I record every answer word for word, with the date, and note who they named instead of you and why.

Step three
You get the diagnosis.

A two-page summary you can read in five minutes, the full report behind it, and a fix list. Every problem, where it lives, what it says now, what it should say. Then a thirty-minute call where I walk you through it.

The fix list is yours. Work it yourself, hand it to whoever does your website, or have me do it. The choice is yours. See a sample report.

A real one, from August

One box unchecked. Customer sent nine miles away.

A salon near Pittsburgh sells organic spray tans. Six services, prices listed, two memberships. The page is finished and it is good.

I asked Perplexity where to get an organic airbrush spray tan in that town. It sent the customer to a studio nine miles away and never mentioned the salon.

One setting on the salon's own site tells search engines to skip that page, so nobody has it on file. The fix takes a minute. The owner had no idea.

What I recordedPerplexity, August 2026
What the customer asked

Where can I get an organic airbrush spray tan near me?

Who it sent them to

A tanning studio nine miles away. The salon was not mentioned.

Why

The salon's spray tan page is set to hide from search engines. Google has never stored it, so the assistant could not find it either.

The fix

Turn that setting off and ask Google to store the page.

Business name withheld. Answers change with location and time.
What it costs

Diagnosis first. Repairs if you want them.

The diagnosis

$600

One week

The questions, the recorded answers, a check of your main listings and website details, the fix list, and the walkthrough call.

Get the diagnosis

Not included: making the fixes.

The repairs

$1,800

Thirty days

I work the fix list for you. You give me logins and about an hour to answer the questions only you can answer. Sixty days after we start, I ask the original questions again and show you what changed.

Not included: new pages.

Ongoing maintenance

$1,000

A month, month to month

Two new pages a month, written from the questions your customers ask that your site does not answer yet, published on your site. Every ninety days I rerun the original questions. Thirty days notice to stop.

Not included: social posting, ads, or a site redesign.

Or, you can always do nothing and hope for the best.

Straight about the limits

What I will not promise.

The fact of the matter is nobody controls those answers. I would not trust anyone who says they do.

The diagnosis records what a specific assistant said, to specific questions, on a specific day, from a specific place. Ask the same question yourself and your answer may differ. When an AI tool explains why it suggested a business, that is what it said, not proof of what caused it.

What I can show you is what changed. Same questions, same wording, same conditions, sixty days later. That is the only honest measurement I know of, and it is where the repairs end.

Who is this guy

I've been finding customers for small and mid-size companies for over twenty years.

I am Doug Jones. I have spent my career running marketing operations for manufacturers and distributors, and I run global marketing for a precision automation company in Pittsburgh today. AI is every bit the game-changing technology you've read about. Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) is the next big space in competitive digital marketing, and I know how to make sure your small business doesn't get lost in the noise.

I do the work myself. There is no account manager to hand you to.

I am in Sewickley, just outside Pittsburgh. Most of the businesses I have looked at are within half an hour of here. But that doesn't mean you need to be. If you sell products or services to customers, I can help.

Find out where you stand

The diagnosis is $600 and takes a week.

A week from now you will know what ChatGPT and Perplexity tell your customers, who they name instead of you, and what to fix. At checkout I ask for your website, your business name, and your town.
